BEAUTY: 'THE EDIT' AT JOHN LEWIS & PRODUCT REVIEWS...

Filled with luxury makeup, the recent John Lewis beauty campaign ‘The Edit’ is pretty impressive. In ‘The Edit’, it is all about EYES vs LIPS. This November, John Lewis kindly sent me over a gift card to try out a couple of pieces from the range. I opted for a couple of pieces from two brands in particular: Charlotte Tilbury, and Tom Ford. Both of which I admire so fondly, so I couldn't wait to try out these products! All of the brands included in 'The Edit' offer great makeup, so you'll have plenty of fabulous products to choose from...

The concept: “Fitting with the party season, the November EDIT is all about Eyes and Lips making a statement with either a bold lip of a sparkly eye.”

THE LOOK...

THE EYES...

In 'Glossy Black', this mascara is perfect for achieving the curl, volume, length, separation, and drama that every girl desires for their eyelashes. As Charlotte says on her website: "Darlings, I have spent my entire life searching for the ultimate mascara – they’re a bit like men – you think you need 5 to keep you satisfied but actually you are really looking for ‘The One’". I may not have 'experimented' as such with 5 or more men, but I have certainly owned and tested out far more than 5 mascaras over the years, so I do feel qualified to be able to spot a good one when I get one! I tend to find finding the right balance with mascaras fairly frustrating at times. I always want the volume, the curl, and the length, but I have only found few mascaras that achieve those results without clumping all the individual lashes together and therefore giving me 'spider-leg' eyes that feel clumpy all day! With a good size wand and brush, Charlotte's mascara offers all of the above, yet rather wonderfully, does NOT clump my lashes together - hallelujah! I do love how this mascara achieves the look I want, but also keeps my lashes looking rather natural and not like I've applied loads of coats. This is one of the pieces included in the John Lewis 'The Edit' campaign, and you can get one yourself for £22.00 by clicking here.

Before I say anything else, I have to tell you, these eyeshadow pencils are GENIUS. Using contrasting colours, and light flex technology, Charlotte has developed the colours to enhance and transform your natural eye colour. 'Amber Haze' is a shade developed for brown eyes, its shimmering amber pigment along with its brown tone compliments darker eye colours beautifully. This is the main colour that I have used on my eyelids in the look that I am referring to today. I have also taken the pencil under my lower lash-line slightly to provide more of a dramatic look. These pencils are also infused with Synthetic Sapphire for the perfect sparkling finish. These shadows are incredibly easy to apply and are so convenient to pop on in a rush so you have no excuse in the morning! You can buy one here in 'The Edit' for £19.00.

So with this one, I cheated a little bit - oops! This gorgeous golden shade is built for blue eyes, but I do really like having a lighter shimmering shade in the corners of my eyes to highlight so I did buy it with good intention! 'Champagne Diamonds' is as glamorous as its name, and it is as perfect as an eyeshadow highlight as it is rolled over the entire eyelid. Don't be afraid to get it if you like it and adapt it to suit you, even if you don't have blue eyes! If you do have blue eyes, this one would be perfectly suited to you and will make those eyes of yours pop! One thing to mention about application is that these shadows do set really quickly, so make sure you blend it in fast when applying. On the plus side, once the shadow has set, it will fantastically last you all day long! I am now quite obsessed with these shadow pencils, and honestly, I would happily have the whole set! Buy one for yourself here for £19.00.
