Over the last week, I've been trying out a new protein. As I've previously discussed on my blog and on my social media, I regularly drink protein shakes after my gym sessions. Protein shakes aid recovery and muscle growth. They also allow an extra source of protein into your diet, in addition to your meals. I never ever use the shakes as meal replacement, and I wouldn't suggest it either. Being someone that experiments often with various flavours, I was intrigued to try out a whole new brand of protein. The range is called Some Body, and the products are available at Superdrug.

I've been trying out the Vanilla Whey Protein Powder product this week, and here's how I rated it based on the main things that I look out for when I'm buying and drinking protein.

Rating: 7/10
I enjoyed the vanilla flavour of the protein. However, I felt that if I mixed too much or too little water with the powder by mistake, it would have a big impact on the taste of the product. So it's best to be accurate with the recommended serving size! As far as vanilla flavours go, this was pleasant. However, next time I think I would try something a little more exotic and fruity!

Serving Size

As I mentioned above, the protein taste did depend on getting the water:protein ratio accurate. You can also have the protein with milk, instead of water, but I prefer not to as I am not a fan of cold milk! However, in terms of the powder itself, the serving size was two large scoops. The tub comes with the scoop, so there's no need to worry about that. I am used to adding one scoop of protein normally, when using other brands. Although, it did still fit into my protein shaker compartment, so it wasn't a problem. The protein powder consistency was quite a fine powder, and this really helped when mixing the shake, as lumps were less likely to form and the drink was smooth.

Here, I'm mainly referring to the packaging of the product. For me, I find screw top tubs so much more convinient and better for storage than bag style containers. I HATE having numerous bags in the cupboard and I love the fact that this protein is easily contained. The overall look of the design is clean and contemporary, and includes all the nutritional and serving information typed on the reverse side of the tub.

Affordability & Convenience

Rating 8/10
Right, so it doesn't take a genius to tell you that this isn't the cheapest protein on the market. Although, it does seem to be on offer for half price at the moment (BARGAIN) so it is likely that it will be again! Regardless, what it does have is a unique selling point. Convenience! If you're someone that doesn't like to order online, is never home to catch your delivery man, or you would just rather go to the shop to purchase the physical product there and then, this product/range would be great for you! Alternatively, if, like me, you often forget to order your protein in advance before you run out, then this is another fantastic option. Rather than missing you, you can just pop over to your local Superdrug, and voila!

Overall Rating

I think this is a great product for someone trying out protein products for the first time and not knowing what it's like or understanding all the information that certain fitness supplement brands can shout at you. It's a lot to take in, I know!Instead of going through web pages, you can pick it up in store, probably ask a staff member about it face-to-face, and not have to go through the delivery process. I'd definitely consider purchasing this protein again if I was in need and didn't have the time to make an order, as it is pleasant, does the job, and it is highly convenient. If you'd like to purchase the protein or try it out yourself, and you do have time to order then click the link below. Hurry while it's still half price!
