Evie Talks: (A Week Late) Easter Chicks ♥

Over the weekend, I hatched out some sweet new arrivals. I'd like to introduce you all to my new little pals, my Silkie bantam chicks. The three lovely chicks hatched last Friday-Saturday after being incubated for 21 days. I purchased the eggs from a Poultry auction last month. The chicks are of a 'partridge' colour, which means they'll be of a brown colour when they grow up and receive their proper feathers, however at the moment they appear brown and striped in pattern.

From the picture below you are able to see one of the chicks hatching in stages...

So far, I have named two of the chicks - 'Dolce' and 'Gabbana' (sassy names for sassy chickens). I haven't named the other chick yet, as it has been fairly weak compared to the others. He/she is a lot smaller than the others, but he seems to be getting stronger each day. If any of you have any names you'd like to suggest then I am open to suggestions. The names I choose tend to follow a fashion designer theme, for example I also have two other white silkies called 'Coco Chanel' and 'Jimmy Choo'. (Yes, I know I sound like a crazy chicken lady right now...)

The chicks can be told apart by the patterns on their heads. 'Dolce' has a black spot on his/her head; 'Gabbana' is at the front in the picture below; and my little runt chick is on the right.

If you have any questions or comments, then feel free to ask. I do know a bit about chicken breeds/chickens in general, and of course I'd always be happy to help any of you with any queries that you may have. ♥
