MONOCHROME, LACE, AND SOPHISTICATION
If you follow my Instagram, you may already recognise this outfit - I wore it out a couple of weeks ago for my flatmate's birthday meal out. I wanted to wear something that was classy yet still young and fun. This outfit, particularly the lace insert Topshop skirt number, got a great response on Instagram, therefore I thought I would write and post a full blog post on it this week (ta-dah!).
When putting this outfit together, I knew what look I wanted to go for and definitely knew that I wanted the skirt to be the main structured centrepiece. I absolutely adore the lace detailing on this skirt and how figure hugging it is. I feel like the lace adds a subtle sexy vibe to the outfit yet it is still ladylike and sophisticated. The skirt is high waisted - which I also love, because I feel that high waisted clothing makes me feel more pulled in and less exposed in the lower tummy area. As the skirt was high waisted and knee length, it does cover up a proportion of the torso and legs: I partnered the skirt with a Topshop basic white cami crop top in order to break up the outfit a little and show a sneaky bit of skin. I went for a monochrome scheme instead of colour or an all black look because I love how the contrast compliments each other and I was worried that an all black look may wash me out completely. In terms of shoes, I went for these New Look black peep toe style heels. They aren't too high which was good for me because I feel that the height was just enough when going out for dinner or drinks. However, the outfit would still look equally as good with a pair of strappy high heels, such as some I have mentioned in the links below.
In basic terms, with my makeup, I decided on a simple winged eyeliner look for my eyes, partnered with a girly blush by NARS in shade 'Orgasm'. On my lips, I wore the Maybelline Colordrama lip pencil in shade 'Nude Perfection' which gave a matte pinky/peachy nude appearance.
I hope you liked this look, let me know your thoughts below. Also, if you're interested in buying the look for yourself, don't forget to have a look at some of the links to exact products I wore or similar items if products are unfortunately now sold out.
*If you can't find exact products or if they have sold out, don't be scared to search them on websites/apps such as eBay or Depop! Second hand is such a way forward, especially for students like me!*

MY TOP PICKS: CRUSHIN' ON ORANGE
Whenever I've been shopping recently, I have noticed a lot more orange in high street stores than usual. I have also noticed it being worn a lot more recently among celebrities, such as some of the Made In Chelsea stars. Admittedly, it is not a colour that is usually in my wardrobe, but I honestly feel like it is really coming back in this summer. It's a bold, bright, quirky colour that will definitely give you the spotlight if you do it right. I'm not suggesting that you go out head-to-toe in orange but a little accessory added to an otherwise basic outfit will add a pop of colour and jazz things up a lot. I have included a lot of accessory pieces in this little wishlist as I feel that is how I would personally most want to introduce a little orange into my own style. However, I've also included a River Island suit set that would look stunning with a white bralet or blouse and a chic pair of nude/gold/white heels.
Here are some of my favourite picks that I have come across today...♥

CELEBRITY STYLE STEAL: KIM KARDASHIAN
A little while ago, Kim Kardashian was spotted wearing a gorgeous cream fur coat with a pair of metallic grey disco pants. I loved this look, and was particularly inspired by it myself. So I thought I'd make a little post, influenced by Kim, surrounding this gorgeous Missguided jacket.
I adore this coat, mainly because of its texture. Its shaggy look certainly gives it a wow factor, which is particularly attention grabbing - it even looks cute on the hanger. I love to pair this lightweight jacket with a white crop top, some high waisted black jeans, and a classy pair of nude court heels. ♥

OOTD: CASUAL TOPSHOP 'JAMIE' DENIM JEANS PART II
So, I'm posing about in my favourite blue denim 'Jamie' jeans again for today's post. I absolutely adore how well they go with a gorgeous pair of black court heels and a white blouse. By partnering them with the heels, I have smartened up this look. These lovely New Look heels are also extra comfortable to wear, so will not leave you with sad feet by the end of the day - which is a bonus! This outfit would also look classy yet cool with a little pair of cute pumps. Let me know what you thought of this smart-casual everyday look below ♥

Life of an Art Student: My 'Impossible Sculpture' Project ♥
A lot of people usually ask me to show them some of my work when I tell them that I am an Art student. I find it hard sometimes to show pictures without having the chance to properly explain my thought process behind the piece of work at the same time. I thought I would make a post today about my recent assignment and what I created as part of our end of year exhibition. Product Review: MAC 'Soar' Lip Liner ♥
Today is another product review kind of day, and today I shall be writing my thoughts and opinions about this MAC beauty. By having a look at my past product reviews, you may notice that I have been particularly influenced by some make up looks from the likes of Kylie Jenner. Kylie's plump and perfectly pouted lips are said to be achieved using lip liner - it is rumoured that Kylie actually uses this exact lip liner. I don't think I could pull off the look of big lips as well as Kylie does, however, I definitely feel that lip liners are incredibly important and can add so much definition and shape.♥

Evie Talks: (A Week Late) Easter Chicks ♥
Over the weekend, I hatched out some sweet new arrivals. I'd like to introduce you all to my new little pals, my Silkie bantam chicks. The three lovely chicks hatched last Friday-Saturday after being incubated for 21 days. I purchased the eggs from a Poultry auction last month. The chicks are of a 'partridge' colour, which means they'll be of a brown colour when they grow up and receive their proper feathers, however at the moment they appear brown and striped in pattern.
From the picture below you are able to see one of the chicks hatching in stages...♥

Product Review: MAC 'Honeylove' Lipstick ♥
I recently went on a bit of a shopping spree on the MAC website. I absolutely adore MAC lip products, and I thought I would just write up a little review post on one of my new lipsticks. Today's choice of lipstick is entitled 'Honeylove'. It's a gorgeous beige nude colour, but also carries peachy tones, which I love. I initially wanted to purchase 'Velvet Teddy', but it was unfortunately out of stock when I took a visit to the MAC website. I would say that this lipstick is a fantastic alternative to 'Velvet Teddy' as it is also a stunning nude colour. If you find yourself being inspired by the makeup of celebrities such as Kylie Jenner, you will adore this colour! ♥

MOTD: Benefit Makeover ♥
Today whilst I was shopping in Debenhams in Winchester, I was lucky enough to be asked if I would like to have a free pampering session by a lovely lady named Emily from the Benefit make up counter. I accepted and she created this fabulous make up look for me with Benefit products. I've decided to write up a little product list and also discuss some of the products that I was particularly impressed with...♥

Art Exhibition: 'Nick Waplington/Alexander McQueen: Working Process' ♥
On Tuesday, as I have previously mentioned in my last few posts, I went to London to visit the 'Nick Waplington/Alexander McQueen: Working Process' exhibition that is currently on display at the Tate Britain. The exhibition features photography taken by artist and photographer, Nick Waplington. In 2008, famous fashion designer, Lee Alexander McQueen asked Nick Waplington to help him document the process behind his autumn/winter 2009 women's ready-to-wear show, entitled 'The Horn of Plenty!'. Which at the time, nobody realised would sadly be one of his last collections. ♥

MOTD: London Trip ♥
I took a lovely day trip to London today with my mother. We went to visit the Tate Britain and also did a little bit of shopping on Oxford Street. Posts of how we got on will be up on my blog very soon, but for now I thought I'd just share a little product list on how I achieved this natural look make up. I love how minimal looking this makeup is, and how the products I used gave my face a healthy glow which beamed in the gorgeous sun today.

Metallics SS15: My Top 5 Topshop Picks ♥
My most recent post was on the SS15 trend of metallics, and whilst online shopping I discovered that Topshop have some gorgeous pieces that fit this trend very well. As its nearly the end of the month and pay day is fast approaching, I figured some of you lovelies might be interested in seeing some of my favourite pieces to get some ideas and inspiration.

♥ Metallic Crinkle Cami - £22 ♥
First up is this beautiful Topshop 'Metallic Crinkle Cami'. The gorgeous light blue colour of this top adds a subtle hint of colour to any wardrobe - perfect if you're a bit worried about wearing bright colours. It's shimmery crinkle overlay is stunning and absolutely perfect for the summer weather. The top has a pretty, high neckline and is slightly cropped - this adds interest to an otherwise fairly simple item of clothing and will look flattering on most people. This top costs £22 and in my opinion, is far too pretty to leave in store.

High Shine Metallics SS15 ♥
High shine metallics and metal colours have recently been hitting up the SS15 catwalks. Metallics can come in many forms, from highly reflective to more subtle metal-like tones, yet all will add a touch of glamour and boldness to any outfit. I personally would suggest that this trend is more applicable to an evening look, however by all means don't be shy to wear it during the day if you're feeling brave enough. As seen in examples below, the likes of Markus Lupfer and Richard Nicoll have been using the trend of shimmer and shine as a dominant part of their SS15 collections.

Hyper Florals ♥
Another trend set to strive in SS15 is hyper florals. Although florals in spring is usually given some criticism - the Devil Wears Prada quote springs to mind. Well, this year is set to bring the spring florals back in and it intends to be just groundbreaking.
With bold, vibrant colours, and large patterns being encouraged, this trend has lit up recent catwalks. The likes of Stella McCartney, Kenzo, and Leonard have all featured bold florals on the SS15 catwalks this year.

As seen at various fashion shows across the globe, monochrome is yet again set to become a highly popular trend of SS15. The timeless combination of black and white masters the look of sophisticated fashion. This trend has been fully supported on the catwalks this year by designers such as Alexander Wang, Victoria Beckham, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Lauren, and many more.

This year I was lucky enough to attend Vodafone London Fashion Weekend at Somerset House, London. For those of you that are unsure of what this event is, LFW is run every year and it is a fantastic opportunity for designers and brands to showcase their work. As an attendee you can not only expect expert style advice and insider knowledge about the upcoming fashion trends, but also pop-up shops, designer shopping, catwalk shows, and hair and beauty talks by industry experts. As a silver ticket holder for the event, I had entry to the event, access to a catwalk show, and a designer tote bag filled with goodies from LFW sponsors. The designer tote bag was designed by well known British brand Pringle of Scotland, who are also celebrating their 200 year anniversary of being in the fashion industry next year. The bag itself was filled with items such as a Maybelline mascara, a gorgeous Essie nail polish, Label M sea salt spray, and more. After collecting my bag, I had the opportunity to browse around the pop-up shops, from brands such as Swatch, Sunglass Hut, Ukelele, and many more. However, the highlight of the day for me definitely had to be THE CATWALK.
As an introduction to my first ever blog, I felt that I should outline the direction I will be taking and introducing myself to you guys on a more personal level.
I plan for this blog to follow a fashion and beauty direction. I will include posts about current trends, fashion and beauty hauls, product reviews, and perhaps even discuss places or events that I have attended that may be of interest to you. If any of you have any questions or feedback for me throughout, then please do get in contact as I would love to listen to your thoughts.
